Our Story
How we got started...
If you’re reading this right now, chances are... you’ve experienced being left out. Research from various sources says that this feeling isn’t uncommon as 73% of people from ages 16-24 have experienced feelings of loneliness.
There is no simple solution to the lack of connection that many high schoolers are experiencing today; however, studies have shown a positive correlation between community involvement and the creation of meaningful connections! This is where Fresh Friends comes in – to use service events as a means of connection for all high schoolers.
WHAT VOLUNTEERS SAY
OLIVER LODGSON
"My favorite moments with Fresh Friends really depends on what I was doing! For example, during the gift packaging event during Christmas I’d say the best part was seeing the completion of it all. I could see that we, as a group, had accomplished so much and it gave us an amazing sense of community and fulfillment. Out of the times I’ve helped with the Tiny Theologians though, I really enjoyed engaging with each kid and helping with various activities because they’re just so sweet!”
HANNAH MOFTAKAR
"One of my favorite moments while volunteering through Fresh Friends was ringing the bells for Salvation Army. Those who donated were so kind, and I loved having the opportunity to hear why donating was important to them. Volunteering opportunities like these are really so rewarding and have taught me so much about the importance of volunteering and the large impact it can have!”
BELLA TORRES
Fresh Friends has played a crucial role in how I define service: not as a chore, but as a joy. A joy to grow along side those who care. Most recently, I had the chance to work with kids at a local church. Whether it was drawing or doing a science experiment, every moment reminded me of the importance of being there for others. Especially for the youngest in our communities.”
